Are you as miffed as we are that season 7 of The Great British Bake Off has been delayed? It looks like we're going to be waiting a little longer for the next instalment of our baking fix, with the BBC's Olympic coverage pushing our favourite show further back on the calendar. If like us, you're feeling rather impatient about the wait for new episodes, then why not take a look back at some of the baking show's classic moments?

In no particular order, here are out five favourite Bake Off moments:

Bingate

We all knew that this was going to make it onto the list, so we thought that we'd get it out of the way first! Back in season 5, viewers were left outraged, after Iain was forced to bin his baked Alaska, resulting in his departure from the competition. While there have been many arguments since the show over the extent of contestant Diana's responsibility for this 'mishap', and claims that the show was poorly edited, we'll leave it up to you to decide:

Dough!

How can we forget the moment when Cathryn's attempt at whipping up some strudel, didn't exactly go according to plan...

Nadia Wins

There's no doubt that Nadia will probably go down as one of our all-time favourite Bake Off contestants, and it isn't hard to understand why! From her hilarious facial expressions, to her sweet personality, and downright fantastic baking skills, Nadia won us over in ever way. This made it extra special when she was crowned the winner of last season, delivering a tear-inducing speech that had us all welling up.

Hidden Design Cakes

There have been a lot of 'wow' moments on the show over the years, and while these designs may not be the most complex or impressive seen on the show, there was just something extra special about these hidden design cakes. Not only was it fascinating to see the clever designs that everyone had constructed, it was also super exciting to wait and see the results of each bake as Paul cut in...

Salt Instead of Sugar

This moment is made even better by the fact that it happened to season 3 winner John Whaite. In the first episode, contestants were tasked with making sweet treats called Rum Babas, with emphasis on the word 'sweet'. Somehow, the show's eventual winner got mixed up, using salt instead of sugar in the recipe and rendering the treats completely inedible! It's safe to say that John's baking steadily improved after that early mishap!
