Replace Your Oven Door Seal

The oven door seal is a deceptively important part of your cooker and needs to be replaced quickly if you think it may be broken. This is because it seals up the gap between the oven door and the appliance itself, preventing heat from escaping while the oven is on, ensuring that:

  • The oven doesn't take too long to heat up
  • Energy wastage is minimised
  • Your food is cooked quickly
In order to keep your oven running at peak efficiency, it's important to replace your oven door seal right away if it breaks or loses its shape to the point that it can no longer do its job effectively. We sell genuine oven door seal replacements for most ovens here at Cooker Spare Parts, and we also have a few universal seal kits that fit practically any appliance (once cut to the required length):
Once your new seal has arrived and you're ready to replace the old oven door seal, here's what to do next...

How to Replace your Oven Door Seal

Step One

  • Switch your oven off at the wall to prevent electric shocks.

Step Two

  • Open your oven door and unhook your existing seal (it should have a hook at each corner).

Step Three

  • If using a universal door seal, you will need to cut the seal to the required length before replacing your old oven seal. Our universal seal kits come with detailed instructions that explain how to cut the seal and insert the hooks properly.

Step Four

  • When your new oven door seal is ready to use, simply hook it into place at the same points as the previous seal. Job done!
It's important to purchase the right oven door seal - you will either need a 3-sided seal or a 4-sided seal depending on what type of appliance you have. See Oven Door Seals: Three Sides or Four? for more information on this.

Hotpoint is one of the best-known cooker brands in the UK, and with good reason: the company is great at producing top-quality fan ovens, and their appliances make fine additions to any modern kitchen.

Of course, as with any cooker, Hotpoint fan ovens can break down from time to time. If your Hotpoint oven isn't getting hot any more, then the most likely culprit - again, as with any cooker - is the oven element, the ring that produces the heat that is then distributed through the oven by your cooker's fan.

Fortunately for you, it is very easy to order a spare fan oven element and fit it in your Hotpoint appliance. Our best-selling hotpoint fan oven element is the C00084399, a genuine 2000W Hotpoint element that's suitable for a wide range of Hotpoint appliances (as well as a number of cookers from Ariston, Creda and Indesit).

However, to ensure that you're getting the right part for your oven, we recommend that you follow these steps:
  1. Go to the Cooker Spare Parts homepage.
  2. Specify your manufacturer name (Hotpoint) and model number using the fields at the top of the homepage.
  3. Click 'Search Parts >' and we'll show you a full list of compatible spares for your appliance.
